Gaming Review : Little Big Planet 3

Greetings humans!

They say let your imaginations runs free and dream as if the sky is the limit, yes? True enough. This time, the most imaginative platformer is back with all new features, it is *drum rolls* LittleBigPlanet 3!

LittleBigPlanet 3

LittleBigPlanet 3 is a puzzle-platformer video game developed by Sumo Digital for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4It was released in November 2014, and it is the third entry in the main LittleBigPlanet series, sixth entry overall. It was announced at Sony's E3 2014 media briefing on 9 June 2014. It was developed primarily by Sumo Digital, with XDev and Media Molecule assisting in an undisclosed capacity. The title received generally positive reviews, with critics citing the many new gameplay elements, such as the addition and different play styles of the new characters, while criticizing the co-op play and game breaking bugs.

Before I went to reviews, here is the plot and a little peek of its all new features;

Plot
LittleBigPlanet 3 takes place on a new planet in the LittleBigPlanet universe, Bunkum. After unwittingly releasing three evil Titans, Sackboy and his new friends must stop them and the unskilled creator, Newton, from destroying the creative paradise.

Features;
Characters and abilities
LittleBigPlanet 3 introduces three new characters in addition to Sackboy, there are Oddsock, Toggle and also Swoop each with their own unique traits and abilities!

  •  Oddsock is a four-legged, dog-like character who can run faster than Sackboy and can wall-jump.
  • Swoop is a bird-like character who can fly freely around levels and can also pick up other light objects and characters.
  • Big Toggle is much larger and heavier than Sackboy and can weigh down platforms or pressure plates. He can also turn into a miniature version of himself called Little Toggle, who can walk quickly on the surface of water, is very small and can fit through tight spaces.

Level creators can choose which characters the player can switch between during gameplay. In addition, Sackboy now has a climbing ability which seems to work on rope-based textures like vines.

Oddsock

New gadgets
LittleBigPlanet 3 introduces several new power-ups which, when equipped, give players additional abilities. One such power-up, the "Pumpinator", blows air to move light objects. In addition to pre-made power-ups, creators are also able to make their own using the new Power-up Creator. There are also 70 new tools, in addition to enhanced ones retained from three previous titles, LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2 and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita.

Also, the PlayStation 4 version of the game is rendered with an improved graphics engine and textures at 1080p resolution (while the PlayStation 3 version renders at 720p).

Toggle : Big & Little

Swoop

Alright humans, now it comes to the reviews. Overall, the game received a positive comments from all the game critics.

"LittleBigPlanet 3 is a foundation, upon which eager minds can start building even more inspiring content, and that process has been made more accessible than ever before." - Justin Clark, Joystiq

"LittleBigPlanet 3 has a tricky and challenging single-player game, joyously mad multiplayer action, and an incredibly in-depth creator mode combine to deliver what is without doubt, the best LittleBigPlanet game yet". - Jaz Rignall, USGamer

"Beautiful, creative and filled with knitted joy, LittleBigPlanet 3 does however disappoint in its Adventure mode’s comparatively sparse content. Nonetheless, it hands over an impressive array of exceptional design tools for budding creators." - Louis Blain, GamesRadar

As you humans can see, most of the reviews from professional game critics are likely positive. Joystiq gave the game 4.5/5 (So close, so close). USGamer gave it a perfect score! *confetti* And last but not least, GamesRadar gave it a score of 8/10. All of it are positively reviewed.

Well, I would support it all the way. Even though this is my second game experience with the LittleBigPlanet series (My first was LittleBigPlanet Vita), I won't hesitate to give it a perfect score. Hands down baby. The story mode is great, the new customization is great, the additional character is amazing, soundtracks are perfectly fitted. We probably see this game as kiddy-like game but no no no. It needed strategy, patience and awesomeness to complete this game. It may look like "aww so cute" graphic but it is one of the stressful yet satisfying (when passing the level) game I have ever played. Nonetheless, everyone should play this game. It's hella fun!

However, all good things must be brought to its downfall. One thing, one thing about the game that disappoints me is that its multiplayer gameplay.  Oh Lord the massiveness of lagginess (massive lag) is unbearable. I tried to play with a good friend of mine but no no no no no. No can do brother. Too lag to be true. Such a shame. And also, well there are a few bugs, but not really a nuisance as compared to the lag. I'd give a 9/10, and the only missing point goes to the cooperative gameplay. Such a lost. But I guess, to see it on a bigger prospect, the game runs just fine. Totally on my recommendation list.

So, that's quite it for now. Adieu!

Movie Review : The Pyramid ▲

Greetings humans.

The formula to find the volume of a pyramid. I bet you humans are already solving the equation. Well, stop. I'm not here to put your Einstein's mind to the test but it is time for another  *drum rolls* movie review! *Dance gracefully* Yesterday I went to watch the movie The Pyramid. I've been wanting to watch it because it seems like a very cool horror movie. Pretty much reminds me of As Above So Below, another great horror movie. But anyway, I'm not going to talk about that. Without further a due, here are something about the movie.

Storyline;
  1. Father-daughter archaeologists Miles (Denis O'Hare) and Nora Holden (Ashley Hinshaw) discover a unique pyramid that has been buried beneath the Egyptian desert for 5,000 years. Accompanied by a newswoman (Christa-Marie Nicola) and her team, the archaeologists enter the tomb and promptly become trapped. Hopelessly lost within the pyramid's labyrinthine structure, the group faces deadly perils that threaten their escape, including collapsing floors and bloodthirsty predators.

The Pyramid is a 2014 American supernatural horror film directed by Grégory Levasseur and written by Daniel Meersand and Nick Simon. The film stars Ashley HinshawDenis O'HareJames Buckley and Daniel Amerman. The film was released on December 5, 2014 by 20th Century Fox. A team of archaeologists discover a vast pyramid buried under the Egyptian desert. As they investigate, they get lost within a complex labyrinth inside the pyramid. As they venture further and further in order to escape, the group soon realizes that they are being hunted.

Sadly the movie was poorly criticized.
"Poorly lit and thinly written, The Pyramid houses little more than clunky dialogue, amateurish acting, and dusty found-footage scares." - Rotten Tomatoes
"A stinker in every sense." - The Hollywood Reporter
"The Pyramid is cursed. Only, instead of an ancient evil, it's just plagued by inept filmmaking." -  Drew Taylor of The Playlist

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie only scored 7% based on 30 reviews and managing only to get 2.6/10. Metacritic only gave 24 out of 100 based on 16 reviews, indicating  "generally unfavorable reviews".

Backside of Anubis
Three Sided Pyramid

I would say that it is a good movie. Even though it is not the greatest, I think it is not the worst either. Despite the poorly rated by various movie critics, I'd say it's not bad at all. The movie is a first-person based, but also there are a few third-person view too but not a lot. Mainly first-person based. The story is about ancient Egyptian's religion. The Pharaohs and their Gods; Osiris and Anubis. The movie tells us about the ancient history of the related religion where Osiris (God of the Afterlife) has died and ascended to afterlife while his successor; Anubis, is left here in our world. Desperately wanting to join his past kings in the next life, he searches a heart that is pure and needed to weigh it in order for him to ascend to the nether. Anubis has killed many of the humans for he to obtain that one pure heart but, come on, the CGI is really unrealistic. That's quite a disappointment. I had to compare it with As Above So Below because it is so similar and I had to say it is not as good. Sorry to say humans but I'm sure it is agreeable.

The story drags a lot and it is rarely for the viewers to see the ultimate predator; Anubis. The rats have more screen time then Anubis and they're not even the most dangerous predators. Anubis can only be seen for about like what, less than 10 minutes? (Lolwhut). And the ending is not preferable by me. Everyone is dead. Dead I tell you and no one lives to tell the tale. So how are the videos are distributed? How humans? How?! I live and die by happy endings and the movie has no happy ending. Why. Just, take my heart and weigh it away please.

So! That's pretty much what the movie is all about. Probably my judgement now won't be the same of what you humans will see. I'm not saying it's all bad but hey, not saying it's all good either (Muahahaha). So, don't hold back to go watch the movie. Who knows it'll get better right?

Nah.

Peace humans.

"Hideaway" by Sam Tsui feat. Kurt Schneider

Hear ye, hear ye humans!

Have you heard the song Hideaway? The song that is originally performed by Kiesza Rae Ellestad, a Canadian singer. I don't know about you humans, but honestly it is my first time listening to this song. Also, I have been a huge fan of Kurt Hugo Schneider's work, especially his collaboration with Sam Tsui. Here is the all new-fresh baked-out of the oven cover by Sam Tsui.

Sam Tsui – Hideaway Lyrics
Original by Kiesza (Cover)

You’re taking me higher than I’ve ever been before
I’m holding it back, just want to shout out, give me more

You’re just a hideaway, you’re just a feeling
You let my heart escape beyond the meaning
Not even I can find a way to stop the storm
Oh, baby, it’s out of my control, what’s going on?

But you’re just a chance I take to keep on dreaming
You’re just another day that keeps me breathing

Baby, I love the way that there’s nothing sure
Baby, don’t stop me, hide away with me some more
Hide away with me some more

You send me the shiver up my spine, might overflow
You’re bringing me closer to the edge of letting go

You’re just a hideaway, you’re just a feeling
You let my heart escape beyond the meaning
Putting my head into the clouds I’m flying home
When you get me going I can’t find a way to stop

You’re just a chance I take to keep on dreaming
You’re just another day that keeps me breathing

Well baby, I love the way that there’s nothing sure
Baby, don’t stop me, hide away with me some more
Hide away with me some more

You’re taking me higher than I’ve ever been before
I’m holding it back, just wanna shout out, give me more

You’re just a hideaway, you’re just a feeling
You let my heart escape beyond the meaning
Not even I can find a way to stop the storm
Oh, baby, it’s out of my control, what’s going on

You’re just a chance I take to keep on dreaming
You’re just another day that keeps me breathing
You’re a day that keeps me breathing

And baby, I love the way that there’s nothing sure
Baby, don’t stop me, hide away with me some more
And hide away with me some more

Gaming Review : Assassin's Creed Unity

Bonjour humaine.

This time it's my all time favorite, gaming. Let's get on a plane and take a flight across the globe. We are going to Paris, the city of love. However, it may not always filled with love because it is set in the late 1700s and the early 1800s, during the French Revolution.

Plot;
Assassin's Creed: Unity is a 2014 sandbox action adventure game, and a sequel to 2013's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, the game has the player take on the role of an Initiate as they explore the story of Arno Dorian, who joins the Assassins to investigate the murder of his adoptive father on behalf of his adoptive sister Élise de la Serre, a member of the Templars.

Assassin's Creed: Unity began development in 2010 as Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood wrapped up development. Ubisoft's Montreal-based team, in conjunction with nine other studios from Toronto, Kiev, Singapore, Shanghai, Annecy, Montpellier, Bucharest, Quebec and Chengdu are working on the completion of the game. The creative director is Alexandre Amancio, who also served in that capacity on 2011's Assassin's Creed: Revelations. He was offered the French Revolution game before taking the job of creative director on Revelations. After shipping that game, he was exhausted and took a job in advertising before returning to Ubisoft on Unity in June 2012. Amancio aimed to utilize the then next-generation console technology to push the boundaries of storytelling, and having an engaging love story without making it become a secondary storyline. He cited Ico and Passage as video games that successfully placed romance at the center of gameplay, but noted those were far less complex than an Assassin's Creed game. Travis Stout wrote the single player story, Ceri Young wrote the co-op missions, and Russell Lees scripted the single-player side missions. The historical characters have been mostly relegated to the side missions, leaving Stout to concentrate on writing a story focusing on Arno. French historian Dr. Jean Clement Martin acted as script consultant. According to the series' primary historical advisor Maxime Durand, he aided in ensuring the story did not feel too Royalist despite critiquing the Revolution. The game uses a rebuilt Anvil game engine utilizing the Theatre, Zen and City Lights tools, which respectively improve animation, asset management and volumetric lighting. Quebec professor Laurent Turcot advised developers on the look of 18th century Paris, advising them to look at contemporary paintings and engravings in recreating the past. Nicolas-Jean-Baptiste Raguenet's paintings were emulated for the appearance of the city's water. Unity has crowds numbering in the thousands, with new animations and behaviors, such as holding hands or chatting to each other, enhancing their believability. When Arno sees crowds from a distance, the civilians' animation rigs are simplified, but as he gets closer, their "bones" increase and their behavior becomes more complex. Amancio explained the game's cast are using English accents because unlike previous games, where accents distinguished characters and reminded players where they are from, it is clear to the player that the characters in Unity are French so using those accents was deemed unnecessary. Unlike previous installments, Unity is set to have three composers for the soundtrack: Chris Tilton, Ryan Amon and Sarah Schachner.

This popular ongoing series takes a leap of faith this year sending it exclusively for the next generation console (Sony PS4/Microsoft XBOX One/PC). Assassin's Creed Unity is the eighth project since the very first Assassin's Creed series back in November 2007. The publishers, Ubisoft, are making some crucial changes in this particular series. So, what's new? There are a few improvisations for the gameplay such as; locations and navigations, memories, customization, and also the all new cooperative play.

Locations and navigation
As the game is exclusive to next-generation consoles and PC, it will enable renderings of Paris to 1:1 scale and crowds numbering in the thousands. Players will able to explore the city's entirety, including seamless interiors and the catacombs, with landmarks like Notre-Dame having a quarter of the building's interior playable. Even empty buildings may have unlockable rooms with treasures inside. When standing on rooftops, a button can display 3D objects like alarm bells to help the player strategize. Haystacks have been largely removed in favor of allowing players to control their descent from rooftops, and the controls for freerunning up and down are now separate. Social Stealth has been improved upon with a special crouching mode activated by button, and combat has been made more tactical to feel more realistic: counter kills were removed. Assassinations in the game are referred to as "black box missions," and harken to the style of gameplay from the first Assassin's Creed. Contextual clues are provided to allow the player to choose and plan their own approach, rather than follow a linear, pre-determined path to the target. Unlike previous games however, an assassination is not deemed successful until Arno has escaped after performing it.

Memories
For memories, instead of the player being given a series of objectives, Ubisoft has developed the Adaptive Mission Mechanic, which gives players several potential paths to complete a mission. For example, choosing to stalk a target will lead to a chase if they detect you, as opposed to causing desynchronization (means you die).

Customization
The Assassins' weapons and appearance are customizable, while experience gained can be spent on four different specialties: "Melee" (offense), "Health" (defense), "Ranged" (navigation), and Stealth. For example, Arno can possess Eagle Pulse, which allows him to sense how many guards are in a location he intends to infiltrate. Like other skills, it can be upgraded with experience points at the player's discretion. He can also unlock a disguise skill to escape pursuing guards. The player will be able to upgrade all of Arno's skills, given his objective is to become a Master Assassin.

There are around 200 choices for Arno's gear, which can benefit gameplay:
  • Hoods can decrease a guard's reaction time as well as increase the radius of Eagle Sense.
  • Chest items refer to the Assassins' robes, which changing can increase the time you can spend blended in the crowd, and the time it takes for a guard to detect you.
  • Arm items change the appearance of the Hidden Blade, increasing melee damage and the Phantom Blade's ammunition, but can also increase the time it takes to revive allies.
  • Belts and sashes increase the number of health points and items carried.
  • Pants and boots can decrease fall damage and running noises, as well as providing extra health.

Cooperative play
"Assassins do not only embark on their own quests (like Ezio avenging his family), they have to pay their dues to the Assassin council. So players will have to complete what we call Brotherhood missions, in shared experience, to fulfill their duties towards the Assassins."
Alex Amancio discussing the reason behind cooperative gameplay.

Following the success of Wolfpack in Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin's Creed: Unity is the first game in the series to introduce campaign co-op. Up to four players can take on story-based missions including sabotaging an execution, protecting an emperor or assassinating a target. However, the co-op missions will be optional, all story-based, and can be completed singularly as well.

Co-operative gameplay starts at taverns, where the player can see a "ghost" of a friend who is also playing. Approaching said ghost can establish a request to join the friend on their mission, and both will be loaded to the mission's nearest checkpoint. Amancio expects players will spend a third of their time in co-op mode. Players can unlock skills that will benefit a whole group: these include the Disguise skill, Group Healing, the Assassin Cache for sharing bombs and ammunition, and Communal Sense, which colors targets' locations across the whole map. There are heist missions for the Assassins to steal money. The more an Assassin is detected, the less money will be gained. Amancio commented that the co-op missions will encourage players to work together, thereby avoiding a session from falling apart with gamers who refuse to co-operate.

Originally, this game supposed to be released on the 28th October 2014 but it was delayed by 2 weeks because Ubisoft wanted to launch it alongside Assassin's Creed Rogue which is for the current generation console (Sony PS3/Microsoft XBOX 360/PC). It is downloaded with a patch of 882.2MB due to it's mass improvisation. Over 10,000 AI (Artificial Intelligence) in a map sometimes causes bugs/glitches which is an unfortunate and unavoidable consequences. In fact, bugs/glitches are somewhat normal in the Assassin's Creed series.

Gamespot (gaming reviewers), had some issue to this game. They gave it a rating of 7/10 which basically a bad news because it's pretty low since it is a very popular series. It is said the story about Abstergo is left untouched, the story focus more about Arno and Elise instead of the whole French Revolution, people in France have British accent (lolwut?).
For AngryCentaurGaming (ACG), he didn't touch on what mostly Gamespot had issues on. However, from his perspective, the main problem about the game is bugs/glitches. AI would pop out of nowhere and character models changing on screen. ACG said, the bugs/glitches galore. The bugs makes the gameplay less immersion and interrupts his enjoyment. He gave the game on a "priorities of buying standard" and a "wait for sale", but he also said that if the bugs are fixed this game could be an "instant buy".

For me, the storyline may differ a little from the original series of Assassin's Creed because Assassin's Creed Unity's storyline may seem a little more of a drama and the plot is heavy. But, I think it is cool because it is something new. Again but, the storyline for me is a little short and feels a lot of things are left unsaid and unexplained because I think they are trying to compress everything in one go. Nevertheless, it is worth waiting for. Hands down to it's co-op online gameplay. I'd give it a rating of 9/10 just for it's co-op gameplay.

It is still fresh on sale and you humans should grab it fast because it is selling like hotcakes. RM189 and includes an extra mission "The Chemical Revolution". Buy buy buy. Full recommendation from myself (trust me, I've played it). So? Run to your nearest store now.

Au revoir!

Movie Review : EXISTS!

"THE LEGEND IS REAL. SO IS THE TERROR."

I admit, the slogan is cool. That is why I watched it, even it is by accident. A little back story of my "accident", going to keep it short and informative. First, I was on semester break, get together with some friends, went to the movie, look at the movie lists, had dilemma between Interstellar and Exists, originally going for Interstellar (even though don't know kind of movie it is), some guy saw Exists banner (that's me), seduced the others to watch it assuming it was a ghost story and got terribly mistaken, and lastly actually enjoyed it. Tadaa.

Well here is something about the movie;
Exists is a 2014 horror film that was directed by Eduardo Sánchez. The film had its world premiere on March 7, 2014 at South by Southwest and stars Chris Osborn and Samuel Davis as two brothers hunting for the legendary Sasquatch. Following the darker psychological tone of Sánchez's previous film, Lovely Molly, the film returns to the creature-feature horror of Altered, also written by Jamie Nash. All Brian (Chris Osborn) and Matt (Samuel Davis) want to do is have a wild party with their friends out in the woods. They figure that their uncle's secluded cabin is a prime location, as it was abandoned long ago and is unlikely to have anyone complaining about the noise. What they did not plan on is for the legendary Sasquatch (Brian Steele), who calls the east Texas woods his home, to start stalking the party goers one by one.

IMDb gave it a rating of 5.5/10, which I didn't expect it to be that low. Come on man, it's about Bigfoot. You tell me where will I find, in this 2014, a movie about Bigfoot. None! I'd give some credits for that. Of course it is not the best movie and probably should go for Interstellar and all that, but! it is awesome. To me it is awesome. The starting of the movie is a little slow for me but from the middle to the end, that is when the action kicks in, the legend arrives on scene. The movie is Rated 18 so surely it is filled with blood, sweat and Bigfoot. Gore and thrill are all over the place. Although, using a third-person camera would make the movie awesomer instead of experiencing from first-person view which made my friend sick after the movie because his head was spinning along the victims camera when got hit by the Sasquatch. So, I personally prefer the movie having a third-person view but it is the director's choice. Probably the intention of wanting the viewers to relate to the movie. Yeah well, that is quite reasonable yet head-spinning choice.

The best part of the movie? The legend itself, The Bigfoot. You guys should see the Bigfoot. It looked so so so awesome. The coolest looking Bigfoot man has ever portrayed. I'd give 10/10 just for the Bigfoot. However I am not going to because of other selfish reasons. At the end of this movie, all of it will only make sense. Bigfoot portrayed some moral values people but I am not going to spill it. Spoiler alert *bee-do-bee-do*, you humans going to have to watch it yourselves. Cheers.

Behold, the Legend.

As a conclusion, even though I watched it by accident but not a second I regret about it (well the first 30 minutes was regretful to be honest). Nevertheless, I enjoyed it after that regretful 30 minutes to the last line of the movie. I personally would give it a rating of 7/10 and sincerely think it deserves it. All because of the Bigfoot itself. Hands down baby, hands down.

Tune in to the cinemas while it is still playing. Well, I think it still does. I don't know. Check it out humans. Godspeed!
